Color Pencil Drawing - Mother Nature - Water

Drawing this color pencil drawing piece was a new thing to me. I mean the colored part. This is my second color pencil drawing ever. I'm an opened person, with an opened mind, aware of what is new and contemporary. We got to let ourselves let it go when it comes to learn more. Learn and learn alawys makes us better in what we do and stronger in our commitments. I'm passioned for black and white, the nostalgic touch is gives to things, drawings, photographs. printing, etc., but in this case i used color pencils, so i can say i gave a chance to my opened mind to try out a drawing with some color.

For surprise of myself, i did this drawing step by step, in other words, i didn't do it in a straight timeline. It took some days until finnish it. I was drawing like 1 hour a day, but i wasn't drawing all days. Usually i was passing by the drawing, and if i felt the will to draw in that moment, i would.

As i've said before in other hub, i'm concerned by nature. As many of us refere to it like "Mother Nature". I love nature as an hole, as creation of God. I do believe in God and i love to enjoy and to contemplate the nature. This drawing is about an element of the Earth, from the 4 you already know. This is the first of a collection of four colored drawings i'll do: Mother Nature - Water (this one), Mother Nature - Earth, Mother Nature - Air and Mother Nature - Fire.
I love the incredible strenght of these elements. We see almost all days, news about nature disasters concerning the water: like the infamous Tsunami. I tried not to draw the water in that phase, i rather to give water her calm, peaceful and relaxing moods! That's represented by the sunset over the sea. The sea always reminds me my chilldhood.

Now, what about the big eye in the middle of the drawing? That's very simple to guess! As a surrealistic drawing, the eye is a metaphor, the eye represents "Mother Nature". Mother Nature is aware, always looking and in this drawing, she's just reflecting how intrinsically water is with all the rest in the world. Tha's the web of paths in the drawing. I tried to give a sence of depth in the paths, like if they were digged.

I'll reveal to you a secret. What about my inspiration? As you already saw, this drawing is a surrealistic drawing, for many details, characteristics and reasons. And when i draw surrealistic drawings, i use to get by myself, all alone, and i love to navigate in my mind. All of this comes into my thoughts, as i sometimes write down, so i wont forget what i was thinking of. That's a trick i've learned on my own, cause there was occasions that i've dreamed about something very important or very strange, so i could translate it in pencil and paper, and i ended to forget and lose a bunch of ideas for new drawings. But now i got it, i just try to get some pencil and paper and note down all the details of what i was imagin or dreaming.
To resume, we have to be ready when inspiration comes, cause we could losing an opportunity of a big chance. This applies to life itself. Keep that in mind...
